Frans Smit is a full time artist and photographer living and working in Cape Town. After completing 4 years at the Free State Technikon studing photography Frans moved to London where he followed various painting courses at Chelsea College of art and design, the City Lit and also the prestigious Central Saint Martins. Frans presently works from Eastside studios in Woodstock, Cape Town. Frans was shortlisted for the Absa L‘atelier award in 2008 and 2010. In 2013 he received first prize for the Queensplate ‘Moment’ photographic competition as well as a Merit Award at the Vuleka Art Awards.
